Different octane fuel will have no affect what so ever on the ignition timing. Ignition timing is controlled by the position of the pick-up coil and the design of the ignitor unit.
Why do you want to change the ignition timing anyway?
My Savage runs fine. If you're having problems, perhaps you should look elsewhere for the causes.

Poor class act for a high performance engine ??????? The Savage hasn't got a high performance engine. It's a low reving 31 horsepower single. It's not a 140 horse power sports bike. The Savage's ignition system is well up to the job.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ???????????????? What's all this about ?
